The Bilateral Cooperation Project between Marmara University-Turkey and Poland has been supported by TÜBİTAK

The project entitled "Design and fabrication of the multilayer patches for the treatment of corneal perforations secondary due to corneal infections" was awarded the grant 2549 TÜBİTAK Bilateral Cooperation Call.  This project will be led by Marmara University Center for Nanotechnology  & Biomaterials Application and Research as a joint project with Technology University of Warsaw National Research and Development Center (NCBR). Prof.Dr. Gülgun Tınaz (Faculty of Pharmacy Depatment of Basic Sciences), Assoc.Prof. Özlem Özakpınar (Faculty of Pharmacy Depatment of Biochemistry), and Asst.Prof. Muhammet Emin Çam are the participants of the project.

The aim of this project is to design hybrid multilayer patches enable controlled and localizable application of biological factors to corneal infections. This project is an interdisciplinary work for design and production of biomaterials for tissue engineering applications. The patches have been designed to support controlled drug delivery by the help of polimeric nanofibers and hydrogel layers. Achieving corneal angiogenesis and preventing bacterial and fungal infections are also expected characteristics of the patches.

We congratulate all the participants
